Post subject:  Troop Sleeper Photo

Saw this one come through and thought it was interesting. There were a lot of troop cars kicking around in the early days of tourist railroading. Many have been converted into other configurations, cut up, or left to rot. It's nice to see one restored. It would be nice to have enough proper equipment to recreate a troop train.

Here's a link to a photo of our troop sleeper at the Hoosier Valley Railroad Museum in North Judson, Indiana. One half of the sleeper is setup with bunks and the other half has an N-scale model of North Judson along with several photographs inside:

Great picture. I agree, it would be great to recreate a troop train somewhere. It's interesting to note that the WWII reenactors are just as "older and fatter" as us Civil War reenactors.........:)

We just completed restoring one here at the Elgin County Railway Museum in St. Thomas, Ontario. Externally we restored it to original. Internally we've converted it to a coach for use during Day Out With Thomas.
