In the last few years, any number of museums have established web sites for their organizations/ museumss. This is a good thing.

most of these sites have Current News or Recent News pages. Seems like lately I have been seeing a lot of them that are dated April 2000 or in one case May 1999.

Please don't let your news pages get so out of touch! It is terrible for the reader and it makes the oganization look sloppy.

If your paid or volunteer staff can't keep up with a news page, remove it and leave the news to your
newsletter, which typically comes out quarterly or bimonthly. The web page can still tell visitors when and how to get there etc.

I like to read museum news; so I'll climb down off this soap box and go look for some. Ted

I second (third?) that. Nothing more annoying then a news page with old news. I try to keep our page as up to date as possible.

We keep our Pennsylvania Trolley Museum website updated month to month. Our Educator is responsible for doing that and we get volunteers who supply her with recent digital photos. We actually put the last updated date in red next to each section. Visit Pennsylvania Trolley Museum's site at www.pa-trolley.org. We have a lot going on, such as a new track extension, that you can follow the progress!
