In the mid-1970's, Steamtown (then In Vermont) operated an excursion over the Boston & Maine RR from Bellows Falls, Vermont to Old Deerfield, Massachusetts. It was doubleheaded with ex-CPR G-5 4-6-2's nos. 1246 and 1278. Does anyone here remember the date of that excursion? Frederick G. Bailey |

Fred, I want to say October 25 & 26, 1975. Let me do some looking through the "family archives" and see what I can come up with for sure. Bill Drotar, Jr. |

Fred, Looks like it was 1975, either the 2nd or third weekend of October. Should have been a doubleheaded round trip to Rutland, but went South on the B&M. I seem to remember the reason being a washout or something track related on the Green Mountain being the reason for the detour. Those were some pretty cool trips that left quite an impression on this 10 year old. Man, that was a long time ago!! Hope this helps, Bill Drotar, Jr. |

Bill, Thanks for the help. October 25, 1975 makes sense because R. W. Nimke's GREEN MOUNTAIN RAILROAD book shows a major washout at Rockingham on the GMRC on 10/20/1975. Fred |
