Post subject:  Rail Maritime in Chester, PA
Saw these while out for a paddle on the Delaware. A possible former railroad barge, the former Reading RR tug Delaware and a former EL barge. The Delaware was built in Camden, NJ in 1954. I don't have any info on either barge. There was also at least one car float barge there with tracks still in place. It's amazing how much railroad equipment is still out there kicking around.

That's Harry Hay's operation. Harry is a true gentleman, always ready to tell a story and offer one a cup of coffee in the galley of the Delaware.

When I worked for what is now Moran Towing back in the early '90's, we rebuilt a tug - MV Devon, I believe - on Harry's floating dry dock. I spent a number of weeks down there doing fun stuff like installing a new cutlass bearing, rebuilding the 567C, etc. Our gang would eat lunch with Harry while he and James O'Donnell, our chief engineer, would tell sea stories.

Years later, Mr. Griner and I made a field trip down to see Harry and the Delaware. I asked him if he wanted to sell her - not that I had the pesos. "No!" he said, and that was that. Harry's into maritime preservation, even if he wouldn't call it that.
