http://greatergreaterwashington.org/post.cgi?id=3668 This should have happened in 1967 when Metro was under development. Racism was a major factor in blocking this potential adaptive re-use project. Now, taking back the bike trail right-of-way will be very expensive due to land acquisition and civil works. Plus, a rivived W&OD line would be a politically unpalatable redundancy considering the West Fall Church --Dulles Connector now under construction. Sloan |
