The Pacific Electric collection at the OERM is the largest anywhere; not surprisingly as it was southern California's local system.

The volunteers have been working on the PE 717 s Hollywood class centrance street car for the last four years. After many years of running at the museum it needed a complete overhaul. The trucks, motors, brakes, controlls all needed work And while they were at it they painted the exterior of the car.

Lots of pictures at oerm.org/pages/pe

But I am impressed with small steps too. Another of their PE collection representing the wood car period is PE 1000 an Officers/ charter car that was built by Jewett Car Co in 1913, retired in 1947 and became a residence in the Baldwin Park area. It came to the museum about 1960.

It has been sitting on shop trucks since it arrived. Now the car has a pair of the correct trucks which are Brill 27-MCB-3X which came from the Electric city Trolley Museum in trade for some motors that they needed. Pictures shown at the web address above under the car #1000.

Also of note with the opening of their new storage barn; all the PE collection is indoors for the first time. The museum has cars from all five Southern Pacific electric divisions: Portland, IER, NWP, Visalia and of course the giant PE.

Nice work guys!
