I was thumbing through a dog-eared copy of Country Week that I found recently in the waiting room of a car repair shop I patronize, and I came across this tidbit that some country music fans on this board might find interesting. Jack Wesley Routh, songwriter and pal of Johnny Cash, recently discovered some unpublished lyrics to a song he had penned for Johnny in 1978 or 1979. Titled "When the Trains Come Back," the chorus is as follows: "But I'll be back by a brand new track I'll come knockin' on the door Of your little old shack Don't worry it's not the end I'll love you when the trains come back again." Routh has since recorded the song on an album called Another Season. Trains are always coming back.....to railroad museums. Sloan |
