The Southern California Railway Plaza Association (the old FRPA) has posted on their website announcing Railroad Days http://www.scrpa.net/scrrdays.htm on May 1-2, 2010. Comparing aerial imagery it appears that the bulk of the exhibits will be in or around the Brea Gateway Shopping Center, with railroad exhibits some distance away on "Union Pacific" tracks. Again from satellite imagery, the UP tracks appear to be a single track line with no sidings, spurs etc with no pavement between several industrial buildings. What line is this? I'm assuming this is a lightly used spur with no weekend traffic? How is the graffiti and litter in this area? Is it smooth, stable and hard enough for wheel chair access?

It looks like they are planning a "trolley" between the rail and street exhibits. Am I reading that right?

The present-day UP tracks date back to the Pacific Electric; they went to Yorba Linda and ended at Stern. As far as any "trolleys" are concerned, since the line in question was de-electrified some time around 1950, one would presume that the "trolley" is one of those fake streetcar-body buses.

I'm not real familiar with that area, but from the aerial imagery, it looks like the "trolley" route is a combination of side streets, bike path and a ped bridge. I'm probably sure that's not the case, but I agree, they must be planning a trackless trolley to shuttle people between the mall the and the railroad track.

Wonder what RR equipment they might wrangle. 3751 seems to be already committed elsewhere. I'm assuming BNSF won't come since it is now UP tracks. Guess it would be to much to fantasize that the 3985 will come down. :-)

Actually, 3751 is NOT scheduled to attend the Brea event. We are scheduled for a two-day trip from Los Angeles to San Diego and return on that weekend. The listing of participants on the site is from their last event in Fullerton...

After last year's Brea Railroad Days, the group announced how great the event had been and promised a big return for 2011. But looking at the Railroad days site now there is no mention of 2011 anymore and checking out the calendars, there is nothing listed there either.

Are they not doing it again?

I haven't seen it posted here or anywhere yet, but apparently they have cancelled Railroad Days for this year.
