I just got an email today that they were withdrawn for sale and cut up?

Is it just me, or is there something wrong with the code to download the PDF's? I cannot get the PDF's to fully download once they start.

No problem here. I'm on a Mac.

No problem for me on Vista.

Sounds like you're either getting an error page delivered as the PDF or corrupted data. Which one are you trying to view?

I get the same "File does not begin with '%PDF-'." Sometimes I cannot even get that far.

It seems that the file will start to download, then after a brief time, it stops downloading as the amount downloaded reaches anywhere from 50Kb to 200+Kb. If I leave it, a window eventually pops up saying that an I/O error has occured. I was able to get the smallest pdf files to download (Instructions for bidders, & Swiss excursion), but all the others would not work. Once I managed to get the private car to download, but then it wouldn't work again!

I have tried it on two computers with Windows XP, and have downloaded the latest Adobe Reader (9.2) but to no avail, other than the exceptions noted above!

Any suggestions would be appreciated!

I get shunted back and forth between lists of various things in their library of files. Not only visually uninteresting, but frustrating for potential customers. Web pages ought to be designed and built by artists, not engineers.......

Yeah, got the IO error too.

I think I know the steam group at least. I've seen information as well, and if it the group I think it is, they were really, really rough. Left outside, at least one of the steamers had a visibly cracked driver. And relatively small.

While nobody wants to hear about anything getting cut up, sometimes scrap happens.

I have been made aware of the PDF issue for some time now. I have been researching the problem all morning, and am still scratching my head. It is good to know what is working (Mac) and what is not (various Windows..Vista? XP? IE?)

One possibility is if your installation of Acrobat Reader is set up to open the file within your web browser. One way around this is to right click on the file, click "Save Target/Link As..." and actually download the file instead of opening it. Then open the file in Acrobat Reader. (Yes, this is more complicated than I had intended.)

It was hoped that this file library system would be an improvement for us. I hate getting frustrated by something that should be so simple to to use.

As for the locomotives being cut up, our contact in the Philippines has not told us any such information, although there are rumored to be some other locomotives in that area, and he is researching to find out if those still exist or not. Many of the pictures in the detailed PDFs (if you're able to get to them) were taken this last spring and sent to us.

FYI,

I use XP and Mozilla Firefox 5.0 and get the error.

Interesting. I am able to open these .pdf files. I'm using XP pro, firefox 3.5.5 (the latest version). I don't use Acrobat reader, however. I'm using Foxit reader and the firefox plug-in for it, ver. 1.0.0.1.

Everything works fine.

I upgraded to firefox 5.5.5

The files still does not automatically. However, I can now save the files to hard disk and view them. Darned good looking locomotives (both steam & diesel).
