Academic - my ashpan. Let these perpetually discontent trolls get jobs that require pleasing something other than their overwrought egos,er a boss, without benefit of tenure. There's nothing to be learned from obsessive and insular jerks screaming for attention from their echo chambers. By the way, I know a young lady, who lacks nothing in the ego department and never once walked away showing subtle signs of insidious misogyny. More proof the "social sciences" are afflicted with a cancer that renders them neither social or science. |

Railroading is still male dominated, and in the job market an employee is wise to keep from challenging authority too much if he/she wants to keep that job. Children growing up knowing what their roles should be is better than those growing up confused about their roles. |

I beg to differ with her. I engage childen on our Thomas rides and there are many young female children that are Thomas fans. They tend to have a "favorite" and it is one of the female charactors. They don't seem to be psycologically harmed. Emily and Clarabelle seem to be most favorite. The academics always have to have something to write about to justify their existence. Bill |

Maybe I'm wrong, but the picture contained in the article shows a character named "Rosie". Sure does look similar to a USATC 0-6-0T, like the S-100's talked recently on this forum? IIRC, Queen's Anne/W&W/W&C/USN #3 was painted in a light blue scheme during the W&C days, complete with a fake stake and boilertube pilot. Maybe someone could paint it pink like Rosie? What would the PC police say then? The best part of the link are the shots of the women in the ads to the right of the screen, dressed in "revealing" outfits. In my days at Queen Annes' while working around the engine daily, I'd notice spots that looked like something had been cut off here and there, but couldn't figure out what/why. Now I know. |

If you want to know how #3 looked during the W&C days, check out KR Bell's excellent history of the Wawa & Concordville in "The High Line" a Phila. Chapter, PRRT&HS publication. He was fortunate to interview the main founder of the W&C and has detailed all the "changes" #3 went thru, including the proposed removal of the side tanks and the addition of a tender plus a pony truck. He has photos from the Woodcock collection dated 1977 when some of the W&C remains were transported to Marshallton. #3 still sported her fake stack and pilot along with remains of the "baby-blue" paint. I recall seeing movies of the W&C, or as some locals referred to the "Haha & Pickleville" with #3 running in that awful scheme and the converted boxcars and their tassels waving in the breeze.
