Post subject:  Richard H. Kindig Photos?

Folks,

A researcher at the Maryland Rail Heritage Library found several photos he wishes to use for a book project in our collection.

A couple have captions on the back indicating they came from the camera/darkroom of Richard H. Kindig, the noted Denver rail photographer who died in April 2008.

Does anyone know of any heirs or holding of the Kindig collection/negatives, such as the Denver Public Library's Otto Perry collection? We're not interested in any copyright violations, and the researcher would prefer to do this properly the first time, or possibly obtain better copies (digital slide/negative scans).

You need to call the UPHS, Bob Krieger. He will put you in touch with Jim Earenberger (spelling?) Jim has or had obtained access to rights to many of his Kindig's photos before his death. I want to tell you also that UPHS has rights as well?

If you run into snags, let me know, I will help you out.

Well, as it turns out, the photos we're looking at are not UP trains, but Milwaukee Road locos/trains, and two of them are color and have probably been used elsewhere in Don Ball color books or postcards--I'm pretty sure I've seen them before. Does that make a difference?

Also, I know the name Ehrenberger from our library shelves, thanks.
