How do you ship a 246,000 LBS Locomotive equip with 3 traction motor that 45,000 LBS each.
Redsteak said to large for weight on the flat car the provide.
The unit it Height 13' 5" Width 9' 7" Length 56' 9".
The unit has Friction Bear on 6 axle and the wrong alignment control Couplers.
I could save about 45,000 LBS time (2) 90,000 LBS minus the weight a 16,000 LBS of Shop Trucks.
The 246,000 LBS is the maximum (read the go move) with fuel, water, oil, steam boil etc.
Is the a 6 wheel Flat car that will fit the Locomotive?

Try this link. SRT has just taken delivery of a brand new 20 axle railcar rated at 450 tons. It only has a 40 foot depressed center, but they probably have something that will work for you.

It sounds like you are trying to move a ex military MRS-1 . There are no longer any pool 6 axle flat cars, All cars over 100 ton capacity are rented cars . Trailer Train and Kasgro both have a fleet of FM straight steel deck flat cars which work very well for loading, tieing down locomotives . I have move 3 Chinese QJ and two 115 ton diesel locomotives on them. I have designed a resonable inexpensive way of tieing down these locomotives on the own wheels that the UP,NS, BN, heads of open top loads have approved.
WE ramped the diesel locomotives onto 8 axle flat cars at CSRM to save money instead of cranes.
RR rates for moving the loads can be very expensive soyou need to check rates .Most RR are now charging over $500.00 just for a clearance.
Given your weight listing at being around 65 tons for the carbody you should also get quotes from Heavy Haul Trucking companys the two trucks would go on two seperate trailers. But each state has different rules and highway clearances.
If you use cranes and both ends that could cost $5000 to over $10,000 at each end and I would guess RR rate from $7000 to over $20,000 depending on RR. The car charge for a 8axle FM flat is around $2600 and you only get two free days at each end for loading and unloading. So I hope you have plenty of money. Some RR museums have recieved free moves and free car use but thats not a sure thing anymore
