For those in or near Western Washington, the Northwest Railway Museum has planned a benefit dinner in support of the new exhibit building for Friday, March 5, 6 - 9 PM:

WORKING ON THE RAILROAD 2010

The Country's Deadliest Avalanche? 100 years since the "Wellington Disaster"? "The White Cascade"? What's it all about?

Hear prizewinning author Gary Krist recount the winter of February 1910 when a monstrous, record-breaking blizzard hit the Northwest. Nowhere was the danger more terrifying than near a tiny town called Wellington, perched high in the Cascade Mountains, where a stranded passenger train was forced to wait out the storm. Centered on the astonishing spectacle of our nation's deadliest avalanche, The White Cascade is the masterfully told story of a never-before-documented tragedy . Gary Krist doesn't simply describe the Great Northern Railway Disaster. He takes you up the mountainside, settles you into the trapped Pullman car, and makes you feel the fear closing in around you. It will be storytelling at its finest!

The Northwest Railway Museum is proud to introduce its new "Wellington Remembered" exhibit with a dinner to benefit the new Museum Train Shed. This event will be a spectacular evening at Snoqualmie Ridge TPC Golf Club including:

-Great food from the TPC's incredible chef
-Introduction by Jim Kelly, Executive Director of 4Culture
-Feature Presentation by Gary Krist, author "The White Cascade: The Great Northern Railway Disaster and America's Deadliest Avalanche"
-Excerpts from the new "Wellington Remebered Exhibit"
-Railroad music by "The Issaquah Singers" (who count Bob Cole as one of their own!)
AND a brief auction including a chance to be the Engineer on a locomotive on the Snoqualmie Railway! (It is a fundraiser, afterall!)

FRIDAY MARCH 5, 2010
6:00 – 9:00 PM
TPC Snoqualmie Ridge
Dinner Tickets $100.00 available by calling (425)888-3030 x 202 or in person at the Snoqualmie Depot, 38625 SE King Street, Snoqualmie, WA 98065

RATS! I will be returning to town that evening and can't make it.

I have read Krist's book. It is extremely well-documented research paper that reads like a page-turner novel.

Here are wishes for a fantastic evening and a full house!

Scott
