I see notices up now for a three group shared event by the Downeast Scenic Railroad, the Flying Yankee Restoration Group, and the Railroad Museum of New England at the Steaming Tender Restaurant in Palmer, Massachusetts on the evening of March 27, 2010. Details are shown on this reservation form on the Flying Yankee website (if the link works): http://flyingyankee.com/railfan.doc PC |

Hmmm none of the railway museums that reside in Massachusetts seem to have been invited though. But then again no one seems to know that there are any railroad museums in Massachusetts. It's so bad when I mentioned having some historic trolley equipment moved to a trolley museum in Massachusetts instead of out of state the people on the forum who lived in Massachusetts were confused and one said "you mean that operation in Lowell?" |

If you keep a low profile, you won't be bothered by all those obnoxious customers wanting to spend time and money at your place......interferes with foam time. dave |

I believe these three organizations just chose to have a group event at a location that was central for travel between them, and that happened to be in Massachusetts. Considering that several of the groups in Massachusetts do not have websites and still use once a month mailings to announce events to their members, the limited lead time would not have been adequate for that kind of communication. Their members who have computers will presumably be able to find out about it on the internet through the host groups websites. PC |

Actually I meant finding out about it from the website postings of the groups that are sponsoring the event. I understand that a couple folks at FYRG were central in organizing this event. It helps to have a good website to announce events. Palmer is close to all three of the groups whose sites you listed. Maybe someday they could get together and plan a similar event? PC |
