I came across a reference that the steam boat Becky Thatcher (1926, Army Corps), long in Marietta, Oh, recently moved to Pittsburgh, was destroyed recently when heavy snow collapsed the superstructure and the hull started to take on water. A contractor has been hired to remove the remains: http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/10058/1039082-455.stm Apparently she didn't have her original steam engines: http://www.steamboats.org/steamboat-pictures/becky-thatcher.html Bob |

It's always sad to loose a bit of history. Railroad preservation looks like a fantastic investment compared to marine preservation. |
