Hi Everyone:

CA&E 303 moved again under her own power yesterday afternoon. 303 was the last CA&E car from the Trolleyville collection to leave Cleveland. She arrived about 2 weeks ago after an almost week long trip due to bad weather. Over 2 weekends we were able to hook everything back up and put power to her. We did a short test run in the yard areas of the museum and she ran well though with a few bugs to fix. All in all I think she will be a pleasure to run on our line.

Chris:

Good news! Congrats on getting the car.

Will you be painting it in the Shore Line Electric Rwy color scheme? Just kidding!

I plan to be over your way sometime this summer and hope to ride this car.

Thanks!

Video can be found here of the car coming down from the shop.

She is a great car to ride in: quiet, smooth, powerful; a real beauty.

That video shows some guys trying to deal with a trolley retriever in "retrieve" mode. It looks like some more training would be necessary to safely reset it.

The trolley retriever was not in retrieve mode. If it was in retrieve mode, the trolley pole would have been down. If you look closely, the pole was up and they were trying to get the pole down. The overhead wire in that area is so close to the roof that it was difficult to get the pole off of the wire but still above the the trolley hook. The overhead wire in the area will need some work (it is sagging) before the car will be able to run through that area.

Doesn't look like there was a provision for a headlight on this car, is it just not installed yet, or did she never have one?

The head light hangs on the end doors like most interurbans. If you look close enough you may be able to see the bracket.
