Your stomache ache is a fascinating car, and one I tried without success to bring back to the Savannah museum several years ago, before its back was so close to broken.

It is of Central of Georgia heritage, built in 1887 (if I recall correctly) and is a Jim Crow with a center smoking section. The documentation of its disposition to a shortline during the war with government approval is still extant. It has two WCs in either compartment, one a later plywood addition, which probably indicates its use in Alabama as AL had a state law requiring seperate sex washrooms in both white and colored sections. One end had the 3 shank coupler left.......

Missed opportunity to preserve something in very early and almost original configuration, and to interpret the Jim Crow era where it wasn't being done.

I think this car was preserved by Arthur LaSalle at ARE in Hillyard, FL back in the 1960's - if not, then one just like it, with green velour and brass match strikers in the smoker. very dim memories of visiting it in 1964 in a overgrown field in Hillyard with a 0-4-0T, narrow gage 0-4-0 hulk, and some other stuff.

That Rock Island steel diner with the arched windows would make a nice project car.
