While planning a trip to New York, I noticed that the Arcade and Attica runs one steam trip a day, 2 hours roundtrip, and then puts a diesel on the second trip. Do they really save any money? I believe the engine is spending more time in hostling and preparation than it is actually in service on any day.

Last year it was steam for both runs... never the less, it's an awesome tourist line whether chasing or riding. With all the effort to get back in steam, I sure hope it pays off and the best way to assure that is have a visit and spread the word.

Looks like a few double headers are scheduled along with a few unique events throughout the year. The location is close to other major attractions such as Letchworth Park (with the trestle over one of several waterfalls which actually crosses over a former PRR line in a setting you'd swear was out of the Durango Narrow Guage). Niagara Falls is not all that far and I believe a certain PRR 2-10-0 #4483 steam engine is within an easy drive as well (Hamburg, NY).

Maybe someone can get them to switch the diesel run to noon and have the steam run in better light?
