Hi, all:

I am wondering what people are currently using to replace or repair damaged concrete floors in passenger cars. I have searched the archives, but the products mentioned simply lead to additives and I'm unsure how these would be used.

It was my understanding that the material used is more like a grout than an actual concrete.

Any current product information and advice would be greatly appreciated, as we have several heavyweight first class coaches requiring floor repair as part of a full restoration.

I don't remember exactly what we've used in the past, but I think it was regular "patching type" concrete. Regardless of the type of material, it is very important that all of the loose material be removed, and the metal sub-floor be sound and free of rust.

Home Depot carries a product called project mix, a lightweight concrete mix. Which is a good replacement for the cement in rail cars. I have also used refractory cement same as was used in the firebox. Pullman used a product called vermiculite.
