Maybe someone wants to save this locomotive, located in Noblesville, IN Quote: For sale, will consider leasing, ex-N&W #367 an Alco RS11. Locomotive last ran on the Maine Coast Railroad and has been stored for the past 10 years. Has high short hood, operates short hood forward, has 26L brakes, had Dynamic Brakes { unit in the hood removed, but switch gear remains },has a 251 "B" engine, 1800 hp. 520 turbo. Snowplows on both ends, alignment control couplers, old style Timken roller bearings { not rotating end caps }, 2 wheel sets are around 2 1/2 inches and one set 1 1/16 inch { engine moved to Indiana on these wheels }. Locomotive will need considerable work before operating again. The radiators need replacing, of the 4 sections, one new one has been installed and another new section to go with the locomotive. I have other spare parts that will go with this locomotive to help return it to service. If this locomotive is not sold or leased to a party that is interested in returning it to service within the next 60 days, then it will become subject to scrapping. If you have any interest in parts from this locomotive, should it be scrapped, then make your interest known. http://railswap.org/cb/cl/classifieds.cgi?search_and_display_db_button=on&db_id=12599&query=retrieval |

I just talked with the owner of this locomotive. Be forewarned...he is not interested in donating it. it needs a lot of work. Scrap value is about $200 per ton .If you want, then plan on purchasing it. |
