I found this on Steamlocomotive.info. I don't know if this is a rumor or not but it is interesting, very interesting... Info: This locomotive is no longer going to be on the Reader,AR. The Reader closed down this year(2010). The track and buildings are all gone. Luckily the W.T. Carter & Brother No. 2 will be preserved. I am the new owner of this locomotive and I will be moving it by the end of June to Van Buren, AR. If anyone is interested in restoring this engine with me please call at xxx-xxx-xxxx. Sincerely, Murphy Jenkins. Weird, huh? I haven't seen this on any other site I've checked..

Bull sh*t. Reader RR is alive and well, the number 2 is under FRA inspection and the number 4 would be if we wanted it to be. No track has been removed, and, in fact there have been many improvements made to rolling stock and facilities in preparation for filming a Coen Brothers remake of " True Grit". Mr Jenkins has nothing to do with Reader RR or any of its principles, and have no idea who he is or what he is doing.

Edit...just talked with Murphy Jenkins' mother, and teenage Murphy himself....apparently someone called Hall is representing himself to be the owner told the kid that the place had burnt, and was giving him the number 2. Murphy now understands that one shouldn't believe everything you hear from the average weirdo at a trainshow...his mom wasn't real happy about her phone number being on the internet. Enthusiasm-experience+the internet= bad combination.

Told the kid to get himself an encyclopedia reprint, study it, and maybe we could make a steam man out of him.

#2 was running fine on Thursday and Friday, April 8 and 9 after passing her annual. As of this morning, the engine is freshly painted and the combine has been cleaned and painted pullman green and the Reader staff are all working around the clock to get ready for True Grit. #4 is waiting on a dry pipe header, which is being completed and it will be ready for service as well.

I'm going to remove the offending note on steamlocomotive.info. Sorry it got approved in the first place.

[Edit]
It's been removed. Sorry about that.

hasn't been updated for a while.

I recall a lot about the reader and hearing about that was alarming
