Post subject:  Steam in Baltimore in '03.

Picking up from the threads below concerning the appearance of steam at B&O's Fair of the Iron Horse/175th anniversary celebration, I can only say this: Gee whiz, Sandy, take it easy--it's early yet. While we'd all love to think that all of this stuff gets planned out years in advance, real life is pretty messy. It doesn't come togehter that quickly or that neatly. A lot can change between now and then.

The folks at MILW 261 are running a series of trips in May and as best as I can tell from their website, they're just now starting to sell tickets. Would they like more time? I'm sure they would, but it's just not going to happen.

I'm sure the folks in Baltimore have an idea of what they can and can't do and what the fundraisers are going to be able to accomplish and what the railroads will and won't allow. From afar, it looks to me like they'll put on the best show they can and if it's populated with the 4449s and 3985s of the world or a mess of 0-4-0Ts, either way it will be through sheer hard work, more hard work and then some.
