Here's a question and photo link. Do the South Park Shops of Los Angeles Railway still exist? If so, what are they used for?

A portion of the shops do still exist. First, it is necessary to explain that on the left of the photo is the "old" or "north" side; out of view on the right of the photos is the "new" or "south" side. This photo was taken during the last month of service in 1963. At that time the north side was no longer used (or even owned) by the transit operator.

I was by the shop site a few months ago. It's in a part of town that first went black and then Hispanic.

The south side of the shops is still in existance and I believe still owned by the local transit operator. After the bus maintenance was moved out, I recall hearing that the building maintenance forces moved into part of the shop.

On the north side only two of the brick buildings were remaining as of a few months ago. One of these can be seen in the photo at the far end behind the PCC. These were being used to house an inside swap meet that catered to the spanish speaking neighborhood.

The brick building on next to the PCC was the old Division Two carhouse which had not been used for active cars for decades. This site is now a school or daycare facility.
