In a fairly secure area this or a blue tarp might work fine. In less secure places a robust plywood enclosure is the only way to go. Even that will be breached in time if the vandals/thieves are motivated enough.

I will have several parts of a large stationary steam engine to store later this summer, and the crankshaft and generator stator will be housed in wood framed sheds covered with steel siding. As long as I build the sheds attached only to the machinery skids and not affixed to the ground the local zoning gestapo shouldn't give me any problems.

Fortunately one of our volunteers has donated a large pile of used steel siding and I just happen to have a big straight pine in my yard that needs cut down. An amish sawmill nearby will cut logs into lumber for $20.00 each. We cut down a maple last year and its logs are to become cribbing.

Sorry about the bad link. We've seen so much on this board about how inadequate blue tarps are, that this stuff seems like it might be a good, although probably much more expensive, alternative. OTOH, it's probably a lot LESS expensive than erecting a structure would be.
