Mr. Nystrom passed away at home late last night of a heart attack. We will do our best to keep all of you informed of the coming events in these next few days. Lynn has touched many of us and is a great friend to many. Our thoughts and prayers are extended to his family and friends all over the system! John E. Rimmasch Wasatch Railroad Contractors |

John, Thank you for posting the news. I was never honored to meet him, but having seen him in MANY videos over the years I kind of feel like I knew him in a way. We will keep his family in our prayers. Bruce |

I never had the honor of meeting the man, but he was one of those people in the steam world you hear about over the years, and from the things said about him over on trainorders it sounds like he was a person I would have liked to have known. My best to his family and friends in this difficult time. We are running PRR 643 this Saturday for our Engineer Experience, and as I go through the timeless activities of getting a steam locomotive ready for a day of work I will think of our lost brother in the small number of us privileged enough to operate steam in the 21st century. Lynn was a true character with a great sense of humor. He took his job seriously, but at the same time loved his work. I've made several trips with the engine crew and can tell you that they remind me of a close knit family. This is devastating news for his family and the UP steam crew and to the rest of us who knew and thought the world of him. Rest in Peace Lynn |
