Just received an e-mail from Steve Sandberg, who asked me to let everyone know that on National Train Day, Saturday, May 8th, a major announcement will be forthcoming from his group.

Regards,
Doug

This is arguably FAR more aggravating than the alternative.

Depending on who/where we are, we'll be compulsively checking this website hourly, or checking in via cell phone hourly...............

Here's hoping for that Q Hudson from Wisconsin! My money is on them buying 261 though.

I can't imagine a situation where they'd pass up buying #261 if they could get it free and clear for 70% off the original asking price.

Nobody more than me. Usually I know what's going on before it is announced, but this time I am completely in the dark. Grumble.

You could have at least posted this tomorrow night, so we all don't die in anticipation for the next day.... :)

Long time lurker, first time poster...

Yeah, I can imagine that somehow this will be an announcement about 261 - although stranger things in the RR community have happened...

Just throwing some fuel on the fire.....

This announcement will be made during National Train Day, right? Awhile ago there was a post describing Steve talking with Wick Moorman (from Norfolk Southern) about steam and steam restoration. It just so happens that for National Train Day Norfolk Southern is moving 611 to the Roanoke station as its centerpiece this year. Coincidence?

For the record, I'm 99.9% kidding but 100% hoping.

Well, since we are going to hear officially tomorrow, I guess I'll express one last sentiment for a Burlington O5 class Northern; or an S4 Burlington Hudson as a close alternative.

Actually, word on the street a few years ago was that Steve wanted to add a second locomotive to the fleet. Supposedly a CB&Q engine.

Steve was quoted a couple months ago as saying any of the Q's Northern's would be too expensive to move. It was also said he was in talk with the owners of CB&Q Hudson 4001 in LaCrosse Wisconsin. I would love to see them running a Burlington engine, but any steamer they choose, including 261, would be welcome.

John.
