The next FEBT Rockhill work session of 2010 will take place Saturday and Sunday, May 15-16, 2010. We will work from 9 am to 5 pm Saturday and from 9 am to 4 pm Sunday. We'll meet at the Rockhill shops at 9 am.

MEALS

Breakfast and lunch both days and dinner on Saturday will be available at the Iron Rail B&B, across the street from the depot. No meals will be offered by RTY this session. Please RSVP directly to the Brightbills at the Iron Rail (trolley@innernet.net <mailto:trolley@innernet.net>) if you plan to eat any of these meals. Dinner is subject to cancellation if there are not enough RSVPs.

WEATHER

It looks like we’ll be in the high 60s this weekend! Visit www.accuweather.com <http://www.accuweather.com> and check the Rockhill zip code, 17249, for the latest weather.

COMBINE 14

The focus will be on attaching many center, side, and transverse sill parts that have been prepared during the winter, and on continuing preparation of the side sills for new laminated pieces. General
carpenter tools and small power tools are handy for this work. Lee Rainey will lead this project.

BOILER HOUSE

The Boiler Rats will follow up on their ambitious “raising of the roof” last session by finishing the wall with new siding and window framing, valley flashing. They will install roof rafters preparatory to the roof planking. Heavy-duty hand power tools are useful on this crew. Jim Bacon
is the crew leader in the machine shops

MAIN SHOPS

The Glass Rattlers will focus on the Locomotive Shop west wall. They will be drilling the remaining two posts to be jacked (#2 and #3) and installing scabs. They expect to begin jacking and cribbing the wall
during the session. The new sill sections will have laps cut into them in preparation for installation. The damaged sections of concrete under the west wall will be repaired. This will require some concrete
work. They will also install a new bolt on the east Locomotive Shop bay doors to match that on the west stall. Old latches on both doors will be removed. Work will begin on installing cane bolts to safely hold the doors open. A sash in the station is requires repairs. The Rattlers will measure the window, cut a sheet of OSB and paint it black to replace the sash temporarily, then the sash will be removed for repair. Bill Adams and Chris Coleman lead this project.

STEEL CREW

These folks are pushing ahead on a variety of projects related to the coal tipple, the Combine 14 trucks, the Combine 16 trucks, and the Combine 14 end platforms. Steve Jacobs leads this crew.

GROUND RULES

To take part you must be 18 and a member of the FEBT (or join the FEBT at the work site.) These are insurance requirements. We are guests of the railroad and need to behave accordingly. Last-minute walk-ons are always welcome a t our sessions, but if possible, drop me an email in advance to let me know that you are coming. It helps with the planning. See you there!
