Out of my own need to satisfy my curiosities, I must ask the following
questions of the membership. I figured if anyone would know this
stuff, it may just be you guys. Please help if you can.

1. What type of wood did the New York Central use to line the insides
of the MDT Reefers built at East Rochester?
2. What are the colors used on the MDT reefer? More specifically, what are the color codes used for the orange and redish/rust color? Were more cars painted orange and redish rust color or were more of them black and orange?
3. How many cars wore the NYC herald?

Any help is appreciated. I'm just trying to understand the history and
the composition of these cars better. Thanks.

Lastly would anyone happen to know where one might find documentation
about the cars, plans about the cars or any other papers relevant to
the construction of the car. It seems this sort of information is much
easier to find on locomotives than on freight cars.

Thanks again.

Luther -

We have two Merchants Despatch Transportation steel ice-bunker refers at HVRM. One car (MDT #14070) does not have the New York Central herald. The other car (MDT #13385) does have the NYC herald.

The wood used on the inside of the cars is oak. The cars are very well insulated. Anytime you want to come and look over the cars, please feel free to do so.
