Dave - a photo of that Jacksonville 0-4-0T in its new home is on the news page at SteamCentral.

Curious how it just HAPPENS to have gone to Jim Wrinn's home town. Not that I'm accusing him of being involved in snaking it away from you, you understand . . . ;-)

If I was involved in moving it to the Gem Capitol of the World (or is that Jim Capitol of the World), it would be going to a rebuilt Tallulah Falls right of way to drag a couple of gons along the Little Tenn. River.

In all seriousness, the folks with the antique mall seem to be doing some good restoration work on the cabooses they've rounded up. Perhaps they can work some magic on that little tank engine. Jim

Perish the thought that Jim would be involved in any political activities. I am fully aware that neither he nor Ken Riddle are in any way reponsible.

I wouldn't be as indignant if it hadn't been an organization theoretically dedicated to railroad preservation and history that comdemned it to slow scrapping by the elements, or that we had been actively trying to get any of their members to return calls and email at the time.

For the record I gave up on NRHS after the Charlotte chapter spent (by actual timing) 2.75 hours debating the color of T shirts to be worn by car hosts back during the NS excursion program. I suppose I shouldn't be too surprised......

I gave up on NRHS chapters when they spent about 30 minutes at a meeting one night discussing what items to include in a boxed lunch for the participants in a bus trip to the Western Maryland Scenic Railroad. Meanwhile more important issues, like a company that wanted to donate two locomoitves to the group, hardly elicited any comment, since the railfan heavy membership base was scared of anything larger than a camera bag.

The locos got scrapped, and I got angry and left.
