We have just recently purchased a 2800 series ex-Long Island Railroad coach which we will have to truck across town which will require removal of the trucks. Stamped on the side of each truck it says words to the effect "REMOVE CENTRE LOCKING PIN FROM OUTSIDE". However we can not find where on the outside to remove it. Does anybody know exactly how to release the pins? We've looked under the car and for any pin cover inside the car. Nothing. Thank you.

Talk to the shop folks at the Western Maryland Scenic Railroad. They dismantled some LIRR cars and they can answer your question.

crawl under the truck and look up from underneath towards the center bowl, you will find your answers (if it is the same as the 2900 series cars).

Just be careful - all the parts are heavy.

Found it Fred. There is kind of a bracket or clamp around the centre pin. If I took the clamp off, the pin just falls out or would I have to turn it in order to unlock it?
