Well hover, anyway. Beginning at about 10 a.m. this morning, two very large cranes picked Milwaukee Road 261 up about 8 feet in the air, and the drivers were rolled out from under the locomotive. These will be taken to a nearby shop to be re-profiled.

The locomotive was then set back down on its leading and trailing trucks, becoming temporarily, a 4-0-4. I've got some fairly decent photos in the camera and am off on a mad search for the appropriate cable to get the pictures OUT of the camera. As soon as I manage this feat, I'll add some illustrations to this thread.

It was a very interesting operation to watch. No muss, no fuss, no drama. Hook it up, lift it, roll the drivers away and set it back down.
