To rally support behind the Steam Railroading Institute's http://www.project1225.com, the Fort Wayne Railroad Historical Society will be operating Nickel Plate Road no. 765 in central Michigan on October 16th and 23rd. http://www.michigansteamtrain.com

These trips will come after September's "Steam in the Valley" operations with the 765 and Viscose no. 6. http://www.cvsr.com/steam-in-the-valley.aspx

These trips will see the 765 in new (CVSR), old (Wheeling and Lake Erie, Nickel Plate), and familiar territory (Owosso.)

yay.

BTW as a quickienote I achieved what I call a milestone on my film efforts in transferring my 8mm film restoration to video, its been a long and slow road.

the work continues, I hope I avoided spending 1500 buckeroos making my own transfers (or more if I use any service...YIKES! try 12 reels of 400 feet each and calculate that out.)

Good to see her getting out more, I was dissapointed I was going to miss the sept 19 track tour because I will be in AZ doing steam all the way to grand canyon, so good to know I can still get a long ride behind 765.

Many thanks to the guys at NKP #765, and for Kelly getting the word out here. Partnerships like these are what will keep steam moving in the future. Work is progressing on #1225 --- Tubes and Flues are being removed, and the firebox has been gridded. We are now in the midst of raising funds for the match dollars to reach the needed funds for our Surface Transportation Fund Grant, administered through MDOT.

Many thanks to all those who donated thus far --- especially all those who keep donating variations of #1225 ($12.25, $122.50, $1225.00, and $2450...) With the recent award of a grant from the North American Railway Foundation, we the efforts of our volunteers, we hope that we can once again see her back on the road.

Visit our blog and donate to the cause online at http://www.project1225.org.

Thanks,

TJG

I made it up to the trainfest last year on Thursday, rainy start, that was big, not without some probs, but thats how it goes, but it brought attention out. I think 4449 getting there was fantastic, it was like 3 Lima Engines getting back together.
