Thought some members on the forum might find enjoyable a few recent photographs of Pearl River Valley # 1 in its home in "Shay Park" in Picayune Mississippi.... History shows the engine was built by Lima Locomotive Works in Lima Ohio in 1925 and purchased for the Batson McGhee Lumber Company of Millard Mississippi., later becoming Pearl River Valley Railroad # 1 Locomotive was later donated to the City of Picayune Mississippi.
The City built this attractive building over the engine, named it "Shay Park", it sits alongside the mainline of Norfolk Southern ( ex Southern ) mainline from New Orleans to Meridian.
An attractive, well design park for this unique piece of local history.... Nice to see a locomotive that spent it's life working in a location, preserved where it operated.
