Fortunately a lot of nice photography survives of the EMD Plant One high bay in La Grange, covering more than fifty years of production activity and numerous types of locomotives. The last time I was out there I drove my car around the parking lot that now occupies the plot where the high bay was located. More than 12,000 people worked there in the 1970s, now I think it is around 2,000. PC |
