Reading old news stories using the google news archive search continues to suck up my free time. I just surfed upon this on about the #250 being shipped to WK&S. A few interesting note; she was sent by water to New Jersey and the #300 was supposed to join her but ended up on display in Mississippi.

This 2008 photo of the #300 shows her looking pretty neglected.

I wonder what the story is on why the #300 was reported as coming and then not.

B&HS #300 was purchased by George Hart and then refused, on account of the engine not having a Form 4. The engine was supposed to be shipped for storage at a lumber yard in Reading, Pa., where George had his other equipment stored.

Thanks Kurt,

There is such an amazing history in our beloved tourist railroads that has to be recorded. I'm glad you are doing so. Google news archive has loads of stuff from the Reading Eagle. Just type in steam locomotive and then narrow your search to the 1960's, and there is a lot of juicy reading there.

To hear the engine in action try to find the Album "Steam Railroading under Thundering Skies" The storm was actually mixed in but fun anyways.
