Copy and paste the link below to read about the derailment this morning at Tiny Town in Colorado. This is a 15" gauge amusement type operation SW of Denver in the mountains along Turkeyfoot Canyon Road. This is not what our hobby needs, especially after the derailment at the Louisville Zoo last summer. No.10, a 2-6-0, rolled over and all 6 of the riding cars rolled as well. The caboose stayed on the tracks. Numerous injuries although the article below indicates none are serious. The overzealous media may have a field day with this especially when you note the remark about the lack of seatbelts on the cars. http://www.thedenverchannel.com/news/24 ... source=den This equipment is 5"/6" scale-ish. They have two steam engines, the 2-6-0 No.10 and a 4-6-2 Pacific as well as a couple of G-16 type diesels. Tiny Town has been around since 1915 and has survived numerous floods. The railroad and the historic miniature buildings are quite an attraction in Colorado. Let's hope they survive this one and the industry doesn't get a huge black eye over this one. Rob Gardner |
