Pick-up a copy of "Hello Dolly" at the video store. 1223 is in it.

Check out a copy of one of the fan magazine, like Trains, or Railroad and Railfan. There are ads for commercial video in the back. Also check out the Strasburg Railroad gift shop online. They might have some of that stuff. Shouldn't be hard to find.

I have a video of 7002 and 1223 doubleheading on the ex-Pennsy mainline, but the video was among the things I forgot to pack when I moved to Florida, so I can't quote the producer of the video. Had some nice footage including the train on the Rockville Bridge.

I think there was only one produced, but am not sure who it was either, but am pretty sure it was a semi-local outfit from the east somewhere. Something tells me it was Railroad Video, who in the last few years sold out to Trainfans.com. That might be another place to look. Whas this in the late 70's or early 80's? Wish I had seen them.
Good luck.

I think it was in the early 80s. 83 sounds about right (remember I was 4yrs. old at the time and bought the video later; I never saw the excursion). Railroad Video sounds about right. The case for the video is white with a color drawing of 7002 below a Pennsy Keystone on the cover. Railroad Video sounds vaguely familiar. The video opened with some footage of 1223, 7002 and some coaches recieving some TLC in the Strasburg Shops. Then the excursion, and it ended with the SRR center-cab diesel switching the consist after 7002 and 1223 were cut off back at Strasburg.

Well I started into the video business in 1984 so who knows what I was doing then, probably chasing 611 with my Super 8 and Pentax 6 x 7.

Just think Wowak, if you had started as my assistant in 1984 you would have been all of 5!

Greg

Here I am working the D&RGW at age 5!! :)

It may have been later than '83, possibly '85. Not sure. I remember seeing them on the main in Paoli. Man, were they flying! Anyone who has doubts as to wether they could roll, they can.

Free video if you want to carry my tripod on the 6325 trip June 9th. Problem is I don't have any spare tickets, so you'd have to use the chopper/s

What do you mean...you are probably closer than I am, and I'm in Ohio! We're 3.5 - 4 hours away! I'll throw in a free 6325 video as well as a credit in whatever video we use from the trip as a bonus. Gas money...who knows what that might be in 2 months....maybe more than our cheap $20.00 videos! What nerve! :)

Yes, the producer was Railroad Video. Actually he did two PRR doubleheaded steam tapes. I have them both and rode the trips as well.

The first video (the one Brian is talking about) was done on the first trip to Enola and Rockville Bridge. That first trip was in June 1985.

The second video featured the run to Philadelphia. That trip was run in May 1986--the same day of the infamous NS 611 trip derailment.

In addition to the two Railroad Video productions, Mark I Video has (or at least had) a video on these trips. Check with them to see if its still available.

Hey Greg,
I'm 26 and in great shape. When I was in the Marines two years ago I was part of a .50 Cal gun team, I carried the Tri-pod for that and it weighed 48 lbs. Now of course I'm not in the Corps any more and I've gained a couple pounds but heck, I can still carry that tri-pod of yours. Do we get to run and drop on the ground and set it up quick? :-)

Ohio huh? I'm by Philly, so I think you got me on the trip distance. Too bad I missed the tickets...

Darn...and I was gonna suggest you carry everything so I could supervise(just like a sargeant, eh). And we could drop for a low-angle shot on one-runby too if you wish. Oh well maybe next time.
