| Post subject: | Free Caboose |
News from Dale Laird at the Downtown Historic Railway in Vancouver BC: Quote: By now you have probably received the latest TRAMS newsletter, and may
have read the story about this caboose. Unfortunately, the wheels of City government turn slowly. The City has failed to find a place for the caboose in Yaletown. Therefore, I have informed other groups, but none have accepted it yet, though the Model Railway Engineers of Confederation Park, Bby, are interested. If anyone has any other ideas, please let me know or forward the details below to them. ---------------------------------------------------------- This caboose was originally donated to the Transit Museum Society. Our intention was to locate it on Vancouver's Downtown Historic Railway. However, the City declined to allow us to place it on the track. We then offered the caboose to other groups. It was immediately accepted by the Yaletown BIA as part of Vancouver's 125th anniversary celebration in 2001. But again, the City was unable to find a suitable place to locate the caboose. Therefore, we are going farther afield to find a home for the caboose. If we don't find a home for it by Sept. 7, it will be destroyed. As you can see by the pictures, the caboose is in very good condition and also has an air conditioning system installed on the roof. If you are interested and can act quickly, contact Stephen Scott. He is responsible for removing the caboose from its current location at Boundary and Lougheed, Vancouver. SScott@omicronaec.com Also contact Herb Schmidt at Pacific Northern Rail. PNR has a trailer that can move the caboose. HSchmidt@pnrrailworks.com Dale Laird Vice President Read our newsletter and join our society at: http://www.trams.ca |
