I just watched a Youtube video of the Maui LK&P Sugar Cane train and it shows them turning the engine on a wye at the enginehouse end. When did they change to a wye? It used to turn on a balloon loop.

Aloha -
The wye went in a few years ago, when a new road was put it. At that time, they cut the loop, and use it now just for a tail to reach the oil tank (ex KRR tank car). Other changes include the reinstatement of their dinner train, and the sale of the OR&L #85 to the HRS who plans to move (ed?) it soon to Oahu (Ewa). I have heard loads are lighter so make sure you ride them when you visit to help keep their tanks full :-)
