Just a note to let us know we are not alone in the current condition, (along with the trucking museum in New England).

Initial commentary: In this case, the museum was based around a personality/entertainer, and also had an educational function (music scholarships). At the same time, the heyday of its principle subject was quite a while back now, and the people who best remember him on stage and television are up in years or dead. . .sound familiar?

I expect there will be a lot more closings of museums of all kinds before this is over. I was in a large western city (not Las Vegas) a couple months ago and the street in back of the largest local mall was lined with "for sale" signs on commercial real estate. In one block I counted over a dozen properties for sale. In my own area, they are now starting to tear down older commercial buildings that have been on the market for more than two years with no buyers. So you can appreciate how this museum got into financial trouble with their market investments and their real estate holdings, but there are likely a lot more museums out there that have investment portfolios in trouble.
