The Green Mountain RR's to-be-scrapped ex-Central Vermont flanger (called a scraper car on CV) has been saved by a private owner and moved to behind the ex-B&M depot at Putney, Vermont. This leaves only the ex-CV heavyweight Pullman bunk car in the endangered category. The latter was fitted out as living quarters. Photos of the flanger move can be seen at link below. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/VRSandRutland/files/sjw/flanger111/ |

That is good news. I was just up there about a month ago and got a few photos of the flanger and the plow, and what was left of the Rutland combine. I was pretty surprised to hear that the plow found a home first, since the flanger appeared to be in somewhat better shape, so it's nice to hear the flanger was saved too. Now what's the story with the ex-B&M wood baggage car? Did it find a home, or are they holding on to it for now? > The Green Mountain RR's to-be-scrapped > ex-Central Vermont flanger (called a scraper > car on CV) has been saved by a private owner > and moved to behind the ex-B&M depot at > Putney, Vermont.
