What material and in what condition is being used to make new drawbar pins?

Baldwin Specs call out SAE 1020 or 1022 (not casehardened) turned from solid bar, see a copy of the spec at the following link, look under pins - drawbars - engine & tenders

The Santa Fe folio only mentions "medium Carbon Steel Forgings, annealed". Also references a materials folio which I don't have. Then 1022 or even 1045 should be just fine. Thanks Mike.
