Aaron Isaacs, editor of the newly-combined TRAIN/ARM magazine, has an excellent online-only article at Trains.com this month:

Our museum was offered a Mesaba Railway Niles-built steel interurban combine that ran up in Minnesota's Iron Range from 1915 until the line was abandoned in 1927. We simply do not have the resources to house the car or even store it, so we did not accept it into our collection. The car was not pristine, but it did operate on one of only two true interurban railways in Minnesota and is only one of two surviving Minnesota interurban cars (our museum has another Mesaba Rwy Niles interurban car destined for restoration--someday). We did offer the combine to several regional and national museums and even offered to sell the museum that took the car (offered for free as is, where is) with the appropriate Baldwin trucks. There were no takers and sadly, the car was recently scraped.
