I had no idea the house was in such a tightly packed neighborhood. Always thought he was out in the country. |

When the Kimball's bought the property it was surrounded by Orange Groves, etc. But in the years since the area has been subdivided. Like so much of this kind of area in the San Gabriel Valley the subdividing of the groves/farms/ranches really got going in the years after the end of the Second World War. Just checked the LA County Assessor's website and its maps. The Kimball's property is like an upside-down "L"; it is almost 460' deep, 200' wide at the street and 100' wide at the rear. Total area is 17,429 sq. ft. or 1.7 acre. It is the largest single lot in a large area. The nearby lots vary from 0.14 to 0.25 acre. Apparently the house was built in 1939 and expanded in 1943; house is listed as 3 bed, 3 bath, 3154 sq. ft. |
