I had the opportunity to pay a visit to I1sa 4483, at Hamburg, New York, today. Both a gladdening and saddening experience. Gladdening, in that her rust and decay has been halted by the people who attend to this great locomotive. Saddening, in that since my last visit, early in the decade, parts have been removed, including her "tombstone" style marker lights. In discussion with local man, I was told that the Decapod, and her accompanying cabooses, one NKP, one DL&W, as well as an H12-44 Fairbanks Morse unit, are to be removed to a new area in order to free up her siding for renewal and storage of ethanol cars.

I was told, though not by a member of the WNYRHS, that her drive rods and valve gear linkage, were wither lost or scrapped when she was moved to New York, years ago. It would be good to know from somebody connected with the group as to whether that is true, or just another rumor.

I was unable to visit the CPR Mikado, stored in another local site.
