The Colfax Railroad Museum is a finalist in November in Pepsi's Refresh Everything grant program. Throughout the month, people can vote EACH DAY on projects that want to support. Our museum is planning to use the funds, if we are one of the ten winners in the $50,000 category, to finish the restoration on our Omaha Route 1884 Mail Car, install handicap access ramps to our new section of cars on display, and develop an exhibit for school social studies field trips titled 'Settling the Northwoods'.
I'll be posting a connection next week when Pepsi finishes their work on the monthly listings.
This program has awarded $1.3 million a month this year for causes throughout the country. So far, we are the only railroad museum to make the list. This is the chance for everyone to put their time where their comments have been and show that the railroad community can support a national fund raising effort. We have an extremely good shot at getting one of the ten grants in the $50,000 group. The key is, vote early and vote often!
