Hi to all Had a wonderful afternoon saturday exploring the long closed DP near Athol Wyoming a few miles south of Cheyenne. Closed in 1908 when UP built a new line connecting with Speer. Was amazed to find so much iron left behind, found what i know believe are anti creep devices lying everywhere on the high curved embankments on the steep climb to Athol summit, soikes and spike heads, firebricks, etc. Can anyone tell me how the demolition was carried out back then, all the anti creeps have one lip that ran under the rail flange broken off so they obviously were hit from one side, some of the spikes are snapped entirely but many are complete. see the pictures at http://mikepannell254.fotopic.net/c1662653.html Next attempt at conquering the summit is this week weather and buffalo permitting.
