O.K., I'm willing to put my foot out here. All those who posted who are interested in being involved in an effort to connect the youth of today into a group that can share experience, ideas, etc. Please send me an email. That goes for everybody, not just teens or 20 & 30-somethings. I'd even be willing to have a get together if your interested in coming to the great state of Michigan. Can't guarantee a lot of operating steam, but Marty Knox and the bunch are close by, and I can see Great Lakes freighters and a daily CN branch train from my window....

I'll furnish texts at no charge for up to 30 serious students. I think this is a fantastic idea.

I don't know what I can do to help, but I'll commit to the idea. I have a 13 year old daughter who adores the trains the way I do. What ever assistance I can be, it's yours, all you have to do is ask.

However it might go a lot further if the 30 free texts were offered to museums that actively sponsor youth involvement programs. Then many more than just 30 would benefit.

Hey, that sounds like a good idea to me!

I am absolutely thrilled to see this discussion! Just sent a mass-email to a "middle age and younger" rails newsgroup I belong to, in hopes of getting some more dialogue on the subject.
