Friends, An earlier thread about some steam-era equipment the CPR is disposing of noted that the equipment was for sale. Either that information was incorrect, or the railroad has changed its mind. According to this page, the CPR is willing to donate the equipment and has been actively seeking homes for the rolling stock: http://www8.cpr.ca/english/suppliers/surplus+assets/heritage+equipment.htm There is also a PDF of the equipment list: http://www8.cpr.ca/cms/NR/rdonlyres/eagquu3ft3quofe63s3tjkpe6mtozyesbfohizjtiqz66dpzvjawy56apouhbqjbgie7rehr3clggnpn2uahn2tkw5f/125+HE+LIST.pdf There is some discrepancy on the close date being 10/31 or 11/15. I have to say, this is pretty good of CPR to make this effort. It reflects the CPR culture that I came to know about 20 years ago. Rob |

It appears that the cars in Skiff, Alberta, which were cut off by a washout, are not included in the new list. They are still available through the surplus list, however. The others should be within reach of cranes for a straight forward flatcar move, and with all the heavyweight cars being scrapped lately obtaining trucks and other parts should be relatively easy. Hopefully some of these cars will be rescued by museums or tourist railways! We're not in the market right now, with a long road move of CN snowplow #55400 coming up within the next month. That will deplete the resources for now! Steve Hunter RMEO |
