The post below inquiring about the possibility of restoring CB&Q #5614 posted by a "newbie," and the preponderance of similar posts by similar "newbies" lately makes me wonder about the possibility of having a "Sticky" or a "Read me Third" post in the forum with "hard, cold reality responses" to some FAQs about restoring random park or museum locomotives, targeted at newbies. Said posters could then be referred to said "Sticky" rather than diverting the board from its stated purposes and directions. Thoughts?

Some forums I'm on do have something like that, you just don't want too many stickies in my opinion as it forces the "new" threads lower on the page.

The sticky will have to be worded well/carefully. It's good to see new people taking interest in preserving railroad equipment but they may not fully comprehend what it takes to do so, whether manpower, money, ownership or equipment and supplies. You just don't want to scare them off or make them afraid to ask questions but rather just point them in the right direction and hopefully understanding. The warm welcome of joining the board feeling should still be there.

It may sound stupid what I typed above but I've seen a few threads on other boards about newbies that were edited after they were "against them", so to speak.
